    • What is Student Support Services?
      Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program designed to provide academic assistance and enhance educational opportunities for students. Federal guidelines require students to be first-generation college students, and /or have a documented disability, and / or meet Federal low-income guidelines. Students must also have an academic need for our program. The program is designed to work with students throughout their academic career at Paul Smith’s College until a baccalaureate degree is attained.

      This program is offered free of charge to participants.

      How can TRiO-SSS help you?

      • Academic, financial, personal and career counseling
      • Financial Literacy, money management, scholarships, and student loan repayment information
      • Individualized Educational Success Plan and monitoring of academic progress
      • Study skills, time management, computer literacy, and other strategies for academic success
      • Personality and character strengths assessments
      • Professional assistance with writing, research, and math
      • Peer Mentoring program
      • Cultural enrichment activities and programs
      • Leadership and service learning opportunities
      • Transfer advising, including graduate school preparation
      • Study Abroad opportunities, information, support, and scholarships

      Eligibility is based on the federally defined criteria:

      • Students whose parents have not earned a bachelor's degree
      • Individuals who have a documented disability
      • Students who meet Federal low-income guidelines

      SSS participants must be:

      • U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or individuals who meet the residency requirements for Federal student financial assistance
      • Admitted and enrolled at Paul Smith's College
      • Pursuing first bachelor's degree
      • Needing academic support
      • Committed to utilizing academic support to earn a four-year degree

      Application Process:

      • Please complete all items on the application. Incomplete applications will delay processing. Please type or print clearly.
      • Complete and return this application to TRiO-SSS
      • TRiO staff will review application to confirm whether or not you are eligible

      • To meet with the TRiO-SSS Advocate / Success Coach on a regular basis each semester
      • To respond accordingly to TRiO-SSS emails/phone calls and keep TRiO-SSS informed if my contact information changes

      • To GRADUATE with my degree!

      Information Release

      Submitting this application enables PSC TRiO Student Support Services to obtain necessary academic and personal information and recorded, including grade reports & transcripts, admission; enrollment, financial aid eligibility & awards, U.S. residency status, demographic & contact information, for the purpose of determining eligibility, developing education plans, and recording & collecting program statistics. I authorize Paul Smith's College TRiO Student Support Services program to use information and photographs related to my program participation in newsletters, web pages, media releases, and other program-related publications. This information may be shared with the U.S. Department of Education, and Paul Smith's College and TRiO Student Support Services personnel in accordance with federal regulations and Paul Smith's College policy.

Failure to disclose and submit complete and accurate information may result in the denial of acceptance to the Paul Smith's College TRiO Student Support Services Program.
