What is TRIO Educational Talent Search?

Talent Search is one of eight Federal TRIO Programs designed to assist students who have the potential to succeed in college. Simply put, the goal of Talent Search is to encourage students to graduate from high school and to continue their education at a college, university, vocational, or technical institution.

Who can Talent Search help?

The program helps middle and high school students who want to make the most out of their educational experience. Talent Search provides students with the support they need to help them be successful in school and to learn how to prepare for success in college. These students are more likely to have the self-confidence and the desire to earn a degree from a college, university, vocational or technical institution.

How does Talent Search work?

An Educational Advisor makes regular visits to schools or schedules ZOOM meetings to meet with participants and provide them with the following services and opportunities:
- Educational support including study skills, goal setting, and time management
- Student support including mentoring, decision making, and leadership awareness
- Transition from middle to high school and high school to college
- Saturday workshops and cultural enrichment activities
- Tours of college campuses and a special summer “college hop”
- Personal finance and career exploration
- ACT preparation and interview skills
- Assistance with the college admissions process and applying for financial aid
Why participate in the Talent Search program?

Talent Search helps students find what best fits their educational needs or career choices by making them aware of the many opportunities available. Participants receive information about college admissions requirements, scholarships, and financial aid programs. Being informed allows students to plan ahead, prepare, and make informed, smart choices.

Where can you go from here?

Anywhere you want to go! Talent Search does not recruit for any specific college or university.

What does this cost?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING… Talent Search is provided free of charge to students, families, and school districts. This program is funded through the United States Department of Education.

I understand that my records are protected under State and Federal Confidentiality regulations and cannot be released without my written consent unless otherwise provided for in the regulations. Federal regulations prohibit making any further disclosure without the specific written consent of the person, or as otherwise permitted by such regulation.
