As Faculty Mentor entails providing support for scholars in their research interests, advising scholars on developing professional work habits, and guiding them through their searches for graduate programs and funding opportunities. In addition, Faculty Mentors will lead scholars in the McNair Summer Research Institute by providing motivation, support, direction, and assistance with identifying “best fit” graduate school programs. In turn, Faculty Mentors will help the scholar understand the rigors of graduate study, encouraging them to think critically and to ask questions. This same level of support can extend beyond the Summer Research Institute.
