  • McNair Scholars Application

  • The McNair Scholars Program is a federal TRiO program funded at numerous institutions across the United States and Puerto Rico by the U.S. Department of Education. All activities are designed to assist eligible students persistence in college from year to year, remain in good academic standing each semester, graduate from TWU, and to gain admission to doctor of philosophy (PhD) granting programs through involvement in research, mentorship with faculty, and additional scholarly activities.

    Students selected to be in the TRiO McNair Scholars program must meet certain criteria set forth by the Department of Education. The Texas Woman's University TRiO McNair Scholars program is funded from 2021-2026 entirely by the U.S. Department of Education in the amount $261,888 annually.

  • Program Requirements

  • McNair Scholars are required to complete the following:

    • A research project each year.
    • One summer research internship during junior OR senior year, with funding up to $2,600.
