  • TRIO Scholars-SSS Program Application

  • TRIO Scholars is a federal program funded by the U.S. Department of Education. The TRIO Scholars Program provides opportunities for academic, professional, and personal development and assists students with navigating the university. The goal of the TRIO Scholars program is to help their participants be successful at UCI and beyond.

    Students are accepted into the program based on eligibility criteria, academic need, and space availability. Completion of the application does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

    To be eligible for the Student Support Services Program, (TRiO-SSS) students must meet all the following criteria. As of December 2022, the UCI TRIO SSS program is a participant in the Performance Partnership Pilot (P3) and thus has a waiver to waive the eligibility requirements outlined in 34 CFR 646.3(a) as they relate to citizenship status.

    • Have a need for academic support.
    • Meet the low-income criteria as specified in the application
    • Meet first generation college student criteria (parents did not graduate from college).

    • The information below, which must be provided by all applicants, is used to determine applicant eligibility for the TRIO Scholars Program at UCI. The TRIO Scholars Program serves college students who are first-generation, demonstrate a financial need as defined by the federal TRIO programs Current-Year Low Income Levels, and/or have a documented disability. Two thirds of SSS scholars must be both first generation and low-income.

    • FAMILY SIZE & INCOME VERIFICATION To be completed by the parent/guardian unless student is considered independent. You are considered dependent and must provide income information for your parent(s)/guardian(s) if you are ALL of the following: (1) under 24 years old, (2) unmarried and (3) do not have children.

    • OPTION #1: If you or your parent(s) filed the most current year taxes, please attach your Student Aid Report at the end of the application and complete the following:
